What attracted me to R.N. Sandberg’s version of the tale is that it uses Shelly’s original text. Sandberg’s treatment is a horror story in that Victor Frankenstein abandons his child, The Creature, who endures nothing but rejection, terrible isolation, and the very worst of humanity until there is nothing left but revenge. This was produced by the Iowa City Community Theatre.

My MFA performance thesis was produced at Naropa University. It became a Zoom movie when the pandemic halted gatherings. It is an original work that tells the story of a family that is struggling to care for their father, who has Alzheimer’s. It illustrates the cost of dementia on the families and loved ones of those afflicted.
